TrackNavigator Terms of Use
These terms apply to the TrackNavigator app for iPhone and Apple Watch, the website tracknavigator.app and the subscription. By creating an account, you accept them.
In short
- An account is required. The first week after the account is created is free. After that, you need a subscription.
- Some features need a subscription from day one: map download for offline use, 3D view, satellite imagery, the drone and coverage layers, share pages and the PDF report.
- The subscription is bought in the app through the App Store and renews automatically until you cancel it. Apple takes the payment, and you cancel and ask for refunds with Apple.
- TrackNavigator is an aid, not safety equipment. Maps, weather, avalanche warnings, drone zones and coverage can be wrong or out of date. You are responsible for your trip.
1. Who we are
TrackNavigator is developed and run by Marius Arnesen, Norway, as Happygolucky Software. Contact: support@tracknavigator.app.
The app itself is licensed to you through the App Store under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms apply in addition, to the account, the website and the subscription. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
2. Account and free week
You need an account to use TrackNavigator. You sign in with Sign in with Apple. You must be at least 13; if you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accept these terms and any purchase.
For the first week (7 days) after the account was created, you can use the app and the website for free, except for the features that need a subscription from day one (section 3). The free week counts from when the account was created, even if you do not use the app all week. It is meant as one trial week per person.
When the free week is over without a subscription – or a subscription runs out – you can still view what you have saved (maps, projects and recordings) and export it to GPX, but not create anything new: no recording, navigation, editing or map download. Everything you have saved stays on your phone and in your account.
3. Subscription, payment and cancellation
The subscription gives access to all of TrackNavigator, including map download for offline use, 3D view, satellite imagery, the drone layers, the coverage maps, share pages and the PDF report. It comes as a monthly and a yearly subscription. The price and period are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, including VAT.
- Purchase and payment: the subscription is bought in the app through the App Store. Apple is the seller and charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The website does not sell subscriptions; a subscription bought in the app also applies on the website for the same account.
- Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically for a new period at the same price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancellation: cancel in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone, or from «Manage subscription» in TrackNavigator. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds and right of withdrawal: the purchase is made with Apple, and Apple handles withdrawal and refunds under its terms. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Price changes: if the price goes up, Apple tells you in advance, and where the law or Apple requires it, you must accept the new price before it applies.
- Family Sharing is not available for the subscription.
- Free access: we may give some accounts free access for a period, for example accounts that existed before the subscription was introduced. Free access does not renew and costs nothing.
Deleting your account does not stop the Apple subscription – you must cancel it with Apple.
4. What the service is – and is not
TrackNavigator is a tool for planning, doing and sharing trips. The app is not safety or navigation equipment you can rely on blindly, and it does not replace a map and compass, local knowledge, your own judgement or official sources.
- Maps, elevations, weather forecasts, avalanche warnings, slope steepness, drone zones, NOTAMs, mobile and emergency-network coverage, protected areas and other map layers come from others (section 7) and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- Drone flying: the drone layers are for guidance. Always check the current rules and permits in the official services (for example dronesoner.no and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority) before you fly.
- Position, heart rate and other readings from the phone and watch can be inaccurate.
- The service may be unavailable at times, for example during maintenance or faults at our end or at the sources.
We keep developing TrackNavigator and may add, change and remove features. If a significant part of what the subscription gives goes away, we tell you in the app in advance where we can.
5. Your content and share pages
You own what you create and upload – routes, points, drawings, recordings, photos and documents. You give us the rights we need to store, process and show the content for you, for the members of the projects you share it in, and on share pages you create. These rights apply only to running the service and end when the content is deleted.
A share page is public to anyone who has the link. Only share what you have the right to share. You are responsible for the content you add, and for having permission to share photos of other people.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use TrackNavigator to:
- add or share illegal content, or content that infringes other people's rights or privacy;
- track or monitor others without their knowledge and consent;
- download maps or data in larger amounts than normal use needs, resell them, or get around limits in the service;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or disrupt the servers.
If you break these terms, we may remove content, stop share pages or close the account. Unless it is serious or urgent, we tell you first.
7. Map data and other sources
Maps and data come from, among others, the Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket), the Norwegian Polar Institute, Lantmäteriet, the National Land Survey of Finland, the Icelandic Institute of Natural History (Náttúrufræðistofnun Íslands), OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenTopoMap, Esri, MET Norway/Yr, NVE, the Norwegian Environment Agency, DSB, the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, the Norwegian Biodiversity Information Centre and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Our own map layers – the «Hybrid» overlay and the Himalaya map – are made by us from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. The sources are credited in the map where the data is shown. The data is subject to the sources' own licences and terms, and we cannot guarantee that it is correct or will remain available.
8. Liability
The service is provided as it is. We do our best to make it work and keep your data safe, but to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by errors in maps or data, outages, loss of data, or by your reliance on information in the app. Keep copies of what matters to you; the app lets you export it.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law, or our liability for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
9. Deleting your account and ending the service
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings › Account) or on the website. What is deleted is described in the privacy policy. Remember to cancel the subscription with Apple (section 3).
If we shut TrackNavigator down, we give at least 30 days' notice and the chance to export your content. If you have paid for a period that cannot be used, ask Apple for a refund for that part.
10. Governing law, complaints and changes
Norwegian law applies. Contact support@tracknavigator.app first, and we will try to resolve the matter. You can also complain to the Norwegian Consumer Council. Disputes that are not resolved go to the ordinary courts; as a consumer, you can always sue in your own place of residence.
If we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. We announce significant changes in the app at least 30 days before they take effect.
- 30 September 2026 – first version, with the introduction of the subscription.
- 3 October 2026 – Without an active subscription you can view what you have and export it to GPX, but not create anything new (section 2). GPX export no longer needs a subscription (section 3). Applies to the app from version 2.1.0.
